When you purchase products from the iHeartDogs store, a portion of that profit goes to Greater Good Charities, an organization that helps many animals in need. Greater Good Charities’ GOODS Program donates food and other needed supplies to animal shelters and rescues. These donations will save the lives of many rescue dogs, including a bad puppy named Marcus who had a rough start in life.
At just 8 weeks old, Marcus was thrown into a crate. He was in critical condition, weighing about half of what he should weigh. He also had several abscesses in his mouth, making it difficult for him to eat. Sadly, he also had wounds all over his body that indicated he had probably lived in a crate his entire life.
Even when things weren’t looking good for Marcus, the Free to Live Animal Sanctuary in Guthrie, Oklahoma, took a chance on him. The organization gave him antibiotics and put him on a special diet to help him gain weight. Once he was in good condition, they used x-rays to determine the severity of his injuries. Unfortunately, he has three broken bones (both cheekbones and his back left leg) that miraculously healed because no one took him to the vet.
The Free to Live Animal Sanctuary is nursing Marcus back to health. It was a slow process, but with enough love and care, he started to get better than ever.
Marcus’ New Tie in Life!
Today, Marcus is healthy. He has doubled his weight and is now comfortably eating all kinds of dog food. Now that he’s pain free, he happily plays with toys and lets his loving personality shine through. Free to Live is confident that he will find a forever home soon.
Free to Live helps dogs like Marcus because they receive food donations from the GOODS Program. With those donations, they can focus their funds on other areas of care, such as medical needs, allowing them to properly care for more dogs than usual.
“Food has increased dramatically in price and affordable food from the GOODS Program allows us to invest in the medical care so many animals need upon arrival,” Free to Live wrote.
Every time you shop at the iHeartDogs store, you’re helping dogs like Marcus get the care they need. In many cases, donations from the GOODS Program give dogs a second chance at life. Thank you to everyone who purchased products to help dogs in need. You are heroes!
