From Icarus to Inspiration: Overcoming obstacles and soaring high
Just a few days ago, I had the opportunity to see Cirque du Soleil. Many of you have heard of this unique and unusual company, founded by Guy Lalibertéa visionary entrepreneur who transformed a small troupe in Montreal, Canada, into a global phenomenon that impressed and inspired millions.
One of their performances that is most memorable to me is Flight of Icarus. From the midnight blue darkness of the great peak, a bright white winged Icarus appeared, falling to the ground while moving his wings back and forth in slow motion.
When he falls to the ground, the crowd gathers around him, stabbing and prodding his limp body, eventually stealing his wings, tying him in a net, and lifting him back into the dark sky.
That’s when the motionless, crippled Icarus frees himself from the net and manages to fly again despite losing his wings.
We all face situations in life when we get burned, we fall, or others try to take our wings away – our purpose, passion, or hope — but as the story goes, we can fly without our wings.
When it comes to health and dogs, there will always be people who will try to clip our wings of exploration and bravery by diminishing or ridiculing the accomplishments of others.
Recently, then world’s oldest dog, Bobi, passed away, a British veterinarian started a campaign to disqualify him from Guinness World Records because he was fed homemade unprocessed food. Funny!
I was shocked by the actions of this vet, because I was sure Bobi’s age was real. Regardless of who is behind this smear campaign, you and I know very well that feeding a species-appropriate natural diet is better for the health of all dogs.
There will always be people who will attempt to steal the wings of others, but this will not stop us from raising our collective consciousness, knowledge, and wisdom.
I love what Vaclav Havel, the first elected president of the Czech Republic, once said:
“Truth and love overcome lies and hatred.”
In light of recent events, I have decided to donate my time to organize short, impromptu, free consultation sessions to connect with you and answer questions you may have. I ran a session last week, and really enjoyed it.
Free consultation opportunity coming soon
The next session will be held Wednesday, November 22, 2023, at 10:15 am PST.
Five spots will be available on a first-come-first-serve basis — so make sure you’re on time! FYI, the session will be recorded and shared for others to learn from, and by participating in the session, you are giving us permission to do so.
We will post the link to join our Facebook page, so make sure you are there when the session starts. If you don’t get in, it means all the spots have been taken.
Take care, and have a great day!
