As many of you know, we are members of the Cat Writers Association (at least, my human is). And you may or may not know that the organization has been around since 1992. They have an annual contest where professional members judge the best work of the previous year. This is not a popularity contest. Entries are judged on merit only.
The highest scoring entries earn Certificates of Excellence, and these highest scoring finalists win the Muse Medallion. And I’m really happy to say that I have five Certificates in four different categories!
I got two Certificates in the Written/Health category for:
Feline Injection Site Sarcoma — What You Need to Know About This Scary and Deadly Cancer
What’s That Freckle On My Cat’s Eye? What You Need to Know About Iris Melanosis
It’s actually kind of fun to get to know them because I don’t usually cover a lot of health topics because it’s not a specialty here. It just so happens that these topics are something my person is interested in and knows about because they have something to do with me.
I also earned a Certificate in Article Writing: General/Other for:
Six Essential Cat-Centric New Year’s Resolutions for You!
And also in the category Photography (Series) for the photos that appear here:
Autumn Pictures at Night
In addition to my blog posts, I earned a Certificate in the Social Media: Entertainment category for my Instagram account, where you may know me as @summerstravels
I won’t know if any of them won the Muse Medallion until the awards ceremony in late October. There are so many amazing writers, photographers, and creators at CWA, and the competition is fierce! So just getting the Certificates is an honor.
You can see a short video of me and the Certificates below.
