This bald eagle gives “fast food” a whole new meaning.
I could watch our national bird go to town on fish all day. I’ve probably watched 100 videos like this, but I never get tired of watching this majestic creature use all its abilities to easily scoop up a fish. It’s really remarkable, which probably helps to explain why I replay clips like this over and over again.
Bald eagles have some of the sharpest talons of all birds of prey, and their exceptional eyesight (allowing them to spot prey up to 2 miles away) really supports the phrase “eagled eyed. ” That saying has to come from somewhere, right?
And there may be no one on planet Earth better at capturing bald eagles in action than Mark Smith, of Mark Smith Photography. I highly recommend you follow him if you enjoy watching action-packed bald eagle footage set to stunning orchestral music (so if you’re American, you’ll love what Smith is putting out).
You might as well call him the “Bald Eagle Whisperer” with all the great clips he captures of our national bird. This one has to be up there with some of his best work (probably just beaten out by this flock of bald people) and his description of the footage explains what makes this fish feeding so special to witness:
“With eight razor-sharp talons at their disposal, plucking fish from the surface is easy for an experienced bald eagle. Combine those talons with more than 7,000 feathers and the ability to effortlessly propel their massive bodies toward a food source, and it’s easy to understand why eagles rule the skies.”

Hey Alexa, play “God Bless The USA” by Lee Greenwood.
If that video doesn’t make you angry, I don’t know what will. I’ll just watch that clip of our national bird scooping up a fish and then throwing it into its own mouth MID FLIGHT over and over for the rest of the day. Hold all my calls.
Social media users also raved about the beautiful footage, and shared these comments below the post:
“The way they throw a fish into their mouth–with such ease and precision–that free fall moment when the fish hangs in the air while the eagle “flies” toward the fish–truly amazing!”
“It’s amazing how long you’ve been able to follow this guy. I’ve had relationships that didn’t last this long.”
“Snack on the go! It always amazes me how they can spot fish so easily! Eagle eyes.”
