Introducing puppies to new things is always fun, and when it comes to new foods they are sometimes not sure how they will react. Marlee is a Golden Retriever puppy that brings a whole new meaning to playing with your food. His mom shared a video of him carrying a tomato in mid-April, and it will make you smile.
The video begins with Marlee’s mother giving her a tomato. Marlee didn’t realize it was food or maybe thought it was a new toy. Throughout the video the mom wrote, “Anyone want to wrestle someone else’s dog with tomatoes?” Watch Marlee adorably ‘wrestle’ the tomato and wait for the ‘sike’ at the end!
He’s so cute with his tomato! And it was so gentle when he put it in his mouth. We have a puppy (he’s a mutt) who does the exact same thing with blueberries and carrots…he plays with them, puts them in his mouth, and pushes them away before finally eating them. He treats them like balls!
People have left more than a thousand comments about Marlee’s video. @weradogs said, “That tomato sure started.” and another commenter added, “I didn’t realize cherry tomatoes were such a formidable opponent LOL!” I couldn’t stop laughing at @kayla.phillips01 who shared, “My kids react the same way when I give them vegetables.” Mine too!

Foods Dogs Can (and Can’t!)
Do you feed your dog human food? We are not talking about candy or processed foods that none of us should eat, but healthy things. Things like chicken and rice. Fruits and vegetables and natural peanut butter. Berries and pumpkin. And of course, tomatoes. Healthy treats can look like a treat to dogs.
Many people open their refrigerators and pantries to find treats to feed their dogs, and some even make their own dog food and treats at home…some people even let their dog to help! There are some dog food and treats recipes here for you to check out. My kids love helping me make meals for our dog, and this is probably the only time in the kitchen that they don’t complain about helping out!
But if you’re not up for that much work, there are a few ways you can dress up boring kibble. Canned fish is a favorite, and it’s good for your dog. Another PetHelpful article shares, “Omega-3 fatty acids, which are abundant in salmon and known to reduce inflammation, can help maintain the health of your dog’s skin and coat. The liquid from the tuna can or salmon is also rich in aroma and flavor, making it a quick, easy, and appealing sauce to pour over your dog’s food Please remember you raw salmon should not be given to your dog. That may contain a parasite known to cause salmon poisoning, a potentially fatal condition. Because canned fish is already cooked, those options and their liquid are safe and tasty.”
I love to experiment and let my dog try new foods! What healthy human food does your dog like to eat?
