CHARLOTTE, NC (WBTV)—Charlotte-Mecklenburg Animal Care & Control is still looking for adoption assistance in the midst of kennel renovations.
In mid-April, the shelter, facing a critical situation, began renovating, trying to house 29 dogs before the deadline.

On Monday, May 6, the shelter hopes to avoid a similar situation, as the jails are starting to fill up again during the renovation process. Even after moving seven dogs to empty kennels at the satellite location, the kennels remain “very full.”
Officials advised that most of the renovation work has been completed, aside from the jails themselves, and they will operate without 47 of them until all are completed.
A spokesperson wrote, “We continue to consider mid-May (15th) as an expected completion date.”
Animal Care & Control is again asking the community to open their hearts and consider taking the dog in for approximately two weeks so the dog can rest and relax.
“Even a staycation for a few days helps if you can’t make the full two weeks, and of course, adoption is the ultimate way to help!”
