During the spring, when allergy season begins, I often make these carrot bone broth frozen dog treats for my golden retrievers. They are prone to environmental allergies and both apples and goat’s milk can relieve dog allergies.
Why You’ll Love This Carrot Bone Broth Frozen Dog Treat Recipe
These carrot bone broth frozen dog treats are easy to make. Carrots and dog-friendly bone broth are the only ingredients you need.
Are Carrots a Safe Dog Treat?
As I discussed in this post: Can Dogs Eat Carrots? (Yes, Yes They Can!), dogs can enjoy carrots as a nutritious and safe substitute for store-bought dog treats. Carrots are an excellent source of beta-carotene and vitamin A. Also, carrots contain quercetin, a natural pigment found in many fruits and vegetables. The presence of quercetin in carrots can help dogs with seasonal allergies.
Is Bone Broth Safe for Dogs?
Yes, bone broth is safe for dogs and is considered a superfood that you can add to your dog’s diet.
Bone broth is simply “a stock liquid made from slowly cooking animal bones over low heat over a long period of time.
You can make your own homemade dog-friendly bone broth or buy store-bought bone broth for dogs. See the “Substitutions” section below for different types and options for store-bought bone broth for dogs.
Bone broth provides many benefits, such as helping to improve your dog’s digestive health. The important nutrients in bone broth can enhance your dog’s immune system.
Also, “the collagen in bone broth contributes to the health and stability of your dog’s joints,” and helps maintain your dog’s healthy skin and coat.
How much bone broth should I give my dog?
A common question that many dog owners wonder is: How much bone broth should I give my dog? Most dog-friendly bone broths will have their recommended serving per dog weight on the back of their packaging.
I use this recommended guide to serving bone broth for dogs:
2 tablespoons of bone broth for 10 lbs.
1/4 cup of bone broth for 10 lbs. up to 25 lbs.
1/2 cup of bone broth for 25 lbs. up to 50 lbs.
3/4 cup of bone broth for 50 lbs. at 75 lbs.
1 cup of bone broth for 75 lbs. and upwards of lbs.
Wild Acre Beef Bone Broth
For this recipe, I used powdered bone broth from Wild Acre Beef Bone Broth with Mighty Mushrooms
What I love about Wild Acre Beef Bone Broth is that it includes additional immune-boosting mushrooms as ingredients: reishi, turkey tail, maitake, and shiitake.

Ingredients For Carrot Bone Broth Frozen Dog Treats
2-3 whole carrots (I don’t recommend using ready-to-eat baby carrots because they are less nutritious than whole carrots)
2 tsp of Wild Acre Beef Bone Broth with Mighty Mushrooms mixed with 1 1/4 cups of water
How to Make Carrot Bone Broth Frozen Dog Treats
There are two ways to make the mixture for this recipe:
1. Use fresh carrot ginger broth and combine it with bone broth (as shown in this recipe video: Carrot Ginger Bone Broth Frozen Dog Treats).
2. Blend the carrots and bone broth in a blender.
Instructions For Carrot Bone Broth Frozen Dog Treats
1. Wash the carrots thoroughly. Unpeeled carrots are safe for dogs, so peeling the carrots is optional.
2. Cut the carrots into small pieces (easier to blend).
3. Measure out the correct amount of bone broth for your dog’s size (see above for recommended servings). This recipe measurement is based on the Wild Acre Beef Bone Broth recommended servings.
4. Stir in the carrots and bone broth.
5. When the mixture is smooth, pour it into ice molds.
6. Freeze for 3-5 hours or preferably overnight.
7. Once it’s completely frozen, serve it to your dog!
How to Serve Carrot Bone Broth Frozen Dog Treats?
You can add 1-3 pieces to your dog’s food or just serve it as a special treat.
When I make these, I usually use 4 dog treat ice molds. I include about 3 pieces of frozen dog treats in my dog’s food and will also use them as a treat, giving two pieces in a day (after our walks).
How to Store Carrot Bone Broth Frozen Dog Treats?
In the freezer, I store all the frozen dog treats I make in an ice cube storage bucket – available on Amazon. Just a reminder: It’s important to use storage specifically for freezer use.
