Binky at the age of 15, disappeared, leaving his family in a state of anxiety. At a time when they moved to a new home, Binky got lost in the process. They stopped everything they were doing to look for their beloved dog. The family clings to the hope that Binky’s microchip will lead to his discovery. Despite delaying their move as much as possible, they had to relocate. Three years passed, and with a heavy heart, the family accepted that they might never hug their beloved Binky again.

Unbeknownst to them, a stroke of fate is about to change their lives. A compassionate individual saw Binky wandering the streets of Summerville, South Carolina, in poor condition and contacted Dorchester Paws for help. The rescue was halted. Binky’s fur was so curly that they couldn’t see his eyes. In fact, they weren’t sure if he even had eyes! His nails are so overgrown that they curl in on themselves. He smells bad, and his teeth are rotten. The team immediately arranged for her veterinary care.

The veterinary team shaved off his matted fur, allowing Binky to see again. They began to treat his ailments, to which he responded with courage and kindness, endearing himself to everyone. Upon completion of his medical treatment, a scan revealed Binky’s microchip, thrilling the veterinary team with the discovery that he had a family.
They called to inform Binky’s family of his discovery and their story left them in disbelief and overjoyed. The rescue and his family were amazed that Binky survived on his own for so long, especially at his old age. They have no idea how he ended up so far from the family’s original home in Georgia. The shelter staff eagerly prepared for their reunion.
Despite being a resident for six hours, the shelter team happily sent Binky home. His family, unable to contain their emotions, hugged him tearfully. Binky, now nearly blind and deaf, recognizes his family by their scent after three years, visibly content and loving in their presence.
