NORTH KINGSTOWN, RI — Ocean State Job has donated nearly $400,000 worth of cat and dog food to animal welfare organizations, a company spokeswoman said Friday.
The donations are part of the North Kingstown-based retail chain’s To The Rescue program, which donates to qualified nonprofits on a first-come, first-served basis. To qualify for the program, each organization must be a registered nonprofit with a tax-ID, have state-issued paperwork stating that the organization serves animal welfare, and can deliver pet food from in the store itself.

“The Ocean State Job Lot Charitable Foundation has long been committed to helping those in need, including our four-legged and furry friends at animal shelters and rescues,” said Ocean State Job co-founder Lot Alan Perlman. “We are proud to partner with and support animal organizations and their efforts to heal, protect, and find permanent homes for animals in every community where Ocean State Job Lot operates.”
Ocean State Job Lot’s To The Rescue program debuted in 2019. Since its inception, the program has donated to more than 350 animal organizations, according to the company.
