A dog that escaped from an accident in Michigan ran a mile from the scene of the crash to its day care looking for help.
Footage shows Aries the pit bull mix arriving at Hounds Town Metro Detroit without his owner last month.
“I was like, ‘Oh, it looks like Aries.’ And then he walks up, and I’m like, ‘That’s Aries!'” owner Travis Ogden told People. “I start hugging him, and he gives me kisses, and he rolls for me, recognizing me.”
Ogden soon learns that Aries’ owner has been in a minor car accident, but the dog jumps out of a window and flees the scene in terror.
Aries’ owner, Melissa Fickel, told a local TV station that she was driving with her dog with the windows down when they were hit by another car. The crash resulted in no injuries and only minor injuries, but Aries jumped out of the window and disappeared from the scene, startling Fickel.
When Aries arrived at the day care, Ogden quickly called Fickel, who adopted the dog in 2020, to let her know that her puppy was in their care.
“She’s a frickin’ smart smart pup. She just knows where her safe place is after being freaked out from the car accident,” she told People. “It made my day to see the girl.”
