Salmonella can affect animals that eat the products and there is a risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products, especially if they do not thoroughly wash their hands after handling the products or any exposed surfaces in these products.
Pets with Salmonella infections can be lethargic and have diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will only have a loss of appetite, fever, and abdominal pain. Infected but healthy pets can become carriers and infect other animals or people.
