When an old dog named Link was dumped at the shelter at the age of 16, he had no idea what was going on. The little dog would sit there and cry for hours. He was confused and overwhelmed. All his life he lived with the same family, but they gave up on him. A girl named Carly came across Link’s picture posted by her friend Angel and immediately fell in love with her. Despite his age and many health problems, Carly knows that Link needs a fresh start and deserves all the love in the world. She meets Link at the shelter, and their connection is instant. Link still straightened when he heard Carly’s voice and felt her gentle touch. Carly made it official. Before long, Link was on his way to his eternal home.
When Link returns home, Carly notices that her own dog, Toad, is very excited to meet his new companion. In the early days, Toad was worried about Link’s health and would not leave his side. Link is constantly wheezing and itching due to skin issues. Toad has been Link’s emotional support and that still hasn’t changed.
Now, after having Link for over two years, Carly is amazed at the transformation the once shy and almost hairless dog has undergone. Link, who is now 18 years old, has grown a large amount of fur and looks like a completely different dog. Frog, a cuddly and sweet 80-pound dog, loves his little 7-pound brother, and the two are often seen cuddling on the couch.
Carly often gets comments from passersby about the unlikely pair when the same dog walks. Link, despite his age, is quite a demanding and energetic dog. He barks a lot and is always eager to sniff and meet new people. Link’s health has improved dramatically since Carly adopted him. He does have a cataract in one eye, which affects his vision, but Carly makes sure he receives all possible treatment for his allergies and skin problems.
Carly and Toad were very lucky to have found Link and are grateful for the opportunity to care for him and give him love in the last years of his life. Play the video below to meet Link and see his dramatic transformation and exciting relationship with Toad. This story is a reminder that regardless of age, EVERY dog deserves a forever home.
