Chickens and dogs are not the most natural pairing. Although they certainly lived together from time to time. Take the thoughtful way a chicken named Popcorn reacts to his dog brother.
The funny video shows Popcorn getting on his high horse when he notices that the dog is exactly where he wants to sit.
Can’t we all just get along? No, not at Popcorn’s house. The chicken was caught pouncing when he saw that the dog was cold his dog cage.

“When you want to lay eggs but the dog gets mad at you because he’s in his cage,” the video’s onscreen caption reads. The chicken barks loudly at the puppy, while the dog cowers in the kennel expecting Popcorn to disappear. Pity! It has no idea what to do.
Many people in the comments couldn’t help but laugh at Popcorn “telling the dog.” “Oooooo she is telling him every which way,” one commenter joked. “How I be cussing out my manager in my head on our calls,” another person joked. “She was using fowl language,” teased a third comment. “Lol he’s lookin at you like what have you brought into this house woman,” one person pointed out.
Chickens can be territorial
Despite the Popcorn explosion, chickens make great pets. You just have to watch out for their territorial instincts. No wonder Popcorn feels feisty when the dog is somewhere he likes. Chickens will be aggressive to protect what is theirs.
They will even be aggressive with other chickens. If they suspect a chicken in the flock is weak, they will bully the bird. Sometimes they will focus on that chicken until they are seriously injured. The smell of blood from those injuries can result in cannibalism. So yes – chickens like their space.
If you raise chickens at home and want to add to your flock, it is important to take steps to reduce their aggression. One of the easiest things you can do is to choose chickens that are the same size, color, and breed as your other chickens. Chickens will notice when a strange bird comes out and attack them. Different breeds of chickens don’t get along either. You may also want to make sure there is plenty of food and resources around for your chickens, so there are no fights. If one of your chickens is sick or injured, keep it away from the others. It may seem extreme, but it’s definitely better to be safe than sorry.
