Animals with disabilities are often neglected in shelters, and sadly, those in kill shelters often find themselves prioritized for euthanasia. This was the case for Blu, a deaf dog who stayed at the shelter without an expected home every day. His situation is a difficult one, but fortunately, there are kind individuals like Mark and his partner Sean, who specifically look out for dogs like Blu, who understand the dire circumstances that animals face. this. Blu’s story reached them through his former owner, who shared that he had been a part of their family for six years before circumstances forced him.
When the couple arrived at Family Dog Rescue in San Francisco, they were told Blu had no visitors before they showed up. Poor puppy! Mark and Sean are brought into a room to meet with Blu. When he walked in, Blu was visibly “vibrant and full of life.” If they adopt Blu, he will be the fourth deaf dog they own. The couple obviously has patience and a giant heart. The moment they met Blu, they knew he belonged with them.
Leaving his family must have been very traumatic. They explained that they did love Blu but were forced to sell their house and move to a rental that didn’t allow Pit Bulls. Can you imagine how hard that must have been on Blu and his original family? Now it’s time to fix things! From being one of the shelter’s longest residents, Blu has become a beloved member of Mark and Sean’s family. However, Blu still suffered trauma.
Blu remembers that the family he loved gave up on him. Even if Mark and Sean weren’t going to take him back to the shelter, Blu wasn’t so sure. This is a story full of patience and lots of love.
