The new year begins on January 1st, and the Chinese New Year begins on February 10th. But for hunters and anglers in Minnesota, the new year is on March 1st, when hunting and fishing licenses go into effect. for 2024-25.
About one million fishing licenses and 500,000 hunting licenses are sold each year throughout Minnesota. The licenses not only raise money to help preserve and manage Minnesota’s fish and game, but also provide valuable information on who is hunting and fishing across the state.
