Viral Video: Just a few weeks ago, a horrifying video of a pet Chow Chow being harassed at Thane’s Vetic Pet Clinic by two groomers shocked and outraged people, resulting in the arrest of the attackers. However, the 1.5-year-old cat, Lala, was not so lucky, as the little one lost her life after the groomers allegedly ‘ignored’ the cat’s ‘deteriorating condition’ during the repair process. The incident took place at Mumbai’s Tidy Paws Pet Salon, where it was reported that, despite the owners’ concerns over the cat’s condition, store staff allegedly ensured the pet’s safety. However, the day of the repair turned into a nightmare after the cat died, and was later declared dead after being taken to the hospital.
A video of the pet parent confronting the store owner, along with several other people, was shared online, which went viral and angered netizens. According to the video, the grooming center tried to blame a ‘stroke’ behind the cat’s death, instead of ‘accepting the mistake’. Moreover, the groomers involved in the matter were sent home, while the shop owner was seen closing his center after the matter got out of control. The video was shared by ‘StreetdogsofBombay’ on their social media handle.
What triggered the rest of the internet even more was that, according to Bombay’s Street dogs update, the pet’s owner eventually refused to file an FIR, despite the volunteers giving their full support in this matter. The update triggered many as people partially ‘blamed’ such pet owners for not acting for the lives of their pets.
The video was shared on social media platform Instagram, through the handle ‘StreetdogsofBombay’. The post was captioned, “We are deeply saddened to hear about yet another tragic incident involving a pet at a grooming center. After the recent heartbreaking incident at a Chow Chow in Thane, another owner of pet owner faces a devastating loss. A cat owner from Mira Road took her 1.5-year-old cat ‘Lala’ to Tidy Paws Pet Salon in Sheetal Nagar for grooming. In despite the owners’ concerns about the cat’s discomfort during the grooming process, the staff assured them that everything was under control.

Taking to the comment box, people shared their views. “Yes, I will groom my own pets,” said one user. “Poor baby. Karma should totally destroy those people,” said a second person. “I’d be in jail for murder if this was my pet,” said a third user. “It’s heartbreaking. We need stricter laws and punishment,” added another.
“GROOMING CENTRES, HOME BASED FOSTERS, SHELTERS, BOARDING FACILITIES – Please do a thorough check before leaving your babies there. The poor thing was OK one minute and suffered a painful end simply because the sadak chhap employees without training could not do their job,” said a fifth user.
“It is very sad to lose your fur baby … strict laws and regulations should be put in place when grooming areas are opened and a pet person should be present at all times when the pet animal is fixing,” added the sixth person.
