KIDWELLY, SOUTH WALES — Burns Pet Nutrition, a Welsh brand of natural dog and cat food owned by Assisi Pet Care Group, has introduced a new diet tailored to weaning puppies. The Burns First Steps Chicken & Rice recipe offers a higher level of animal protein than other puppy foods, according to the company, and is designed for optimal digestion.
The new weaning puppy diet consists of fresh chicken and is produced in the United Kingdom. The formula is free from wheat and artificial colors, according to Burns. In addition to supporting puppies as they wean off their mother’s milk, Burns First Steps is also suitable for nursing mothers, the company says. The diet can be fed either dry or rehydrated with water.
“We work closely with breeders across the UK and have requested a healthy and nutritious weaning product to help transition puppies to puppy food,” said Aileen Coull, breeding manager at Burns. “We are excited to launch this new product for breeders at Crufts, myself and our nutritional team will be at Crufts so please come along to find out more or for any nutritional advice.”
The company will debut the new puppy food at Crufts, The Kennel Club’s dog show, which will be held in Birmingham from March 7 to 10. The diets will be sold exclusively through the Burns Breeder Partnership, which provides breeders with food and resources.
