I’ve had my microchip pet feeders from Sure Petcare for a few months now, and while it’s an expensive investment, it was worth every single penny and relieved a ton of stress on my cat’s meals. One of my cats, Sneaky, always wants to eat his brother’s food and tends to be overweight. Separating them for meals doesn’t work — they’ll make noise at the door and it’s just not enough if they can eat side by side and have free access to food all day — but I also can’t be sure that my younger ( and older small) cat, Chicho, eats enough with Sneaky who also swallows part of his meals. When my vet started bringing up the word “diabetes” as a real concern if Sneaky didn’t start sticking to the controlled diet every day, I knew I would have to finally shell out the money for the microchip feeders – I mean say, it would be a drop in the bucket compared to the long-term cost of cat insulin.
Surprisingly, there aren’t very many good microchip feeder options out there, but after extensive research, I found that these particular feeders are widely considered to be the best options currently available — and they often come in and out of stock as result. Setup was very quick, the open-close function worked beautifully, and my cats learned how to use them almost immediately. Finally, Sneaky can *only* eat what’s in his feeder, which allows me to control his calorie intake and see exactly how much food he’s eating each day — and I’m sure Chicho gets too of *enough* food. This is also a fantastic solution if you have cats on different diets due to health reasonsand if one of them starts eating less for some reason, you will know right away and be able to report that to your vet. I also love that the feeder has both a split and regular bowl — I use the split bowls to serve my cats both dry and wet food at the same time!
BTW, I have the basic microchip feeder (because it’s the only stock option), but also have a Wi-Fi enabled option that connects to the Sure Petcare app for tracking eating habits, weighing food portions , and more.
Get it from Sure Petcare for $199 (feeder bowls available in four colors).
